"Kansas City Kids"
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14. Red Bridge Church of Christ is in the building phase of a children’s program that welcomes and brings in kids from neighborhoods about a ten-minute drive from our church building. Through the powerful grace and guidance of our Almighty God and Father, the example of His Faithful Son Jesus, and the encouragement and inspiration of His Holy Spirit we are touching lives for Jesus and his kingdom. The network of children and teens that are being picked up on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings come from various family situations. Our desire is to touch their lives with the love of Jesus, teach them a way to live that is God-honoring, and to help in physical ways as well. The children and teens come, but we take no credit for this. We give the credit to God for preparing the circumstances that have put us at this point. We as a church have said, "Yes, here we are. Send us to serve them, to love them, to touch them." In a perfect world we would remove all the hardships these children face, we would ensure that they are never hungry, never without clean clothes, that they have warm homes and cozy beds to live and sleep in. But we live in a fallen world far from perfect. And though we do our best to provide necessities, what we cling to is sharing the blessed truth of the Gospel with them so that Jesus may bind up the brokenhearted, he may proclaim freedom for the captives and he may release the prisoners. We pray that their eyes and ears will be open to the gift of salvation offered freely to all by Jesus and that the children will say, "Yes, I accept his gift and will live my life for Him." This is a labor-intensive program and adult teachers, supervisors, caregivers, drivers, etc., are always in demand. Please ask us how you may help touch the lives of these children for Christ.
